frequently asked questions

Where can we go for a couples shoot?

Almost anywhere! For couples shoots I’ll travel within 20 miles from my address.  Anything further all I ask is for a few extra pennies to cover fuel.  I love traveling and seeing different places so don’t be afraid to ask if you’re desperate for your shoot to be on a beach, in the lakes or a random derelict building somewhere!

How long do you stay at our wedding?

I start 2 hours before the ceremony time if the ceremony is taking place at the same venue or 2.5 hours before the ceremony time if you’re getting ready at a different location. I stay approximately 45 minutes after the first dance but don’t worry I always stay until I get what I need for your final images, I’ll never rush off!  If you have a good band/DJ and everyones busting out the moves you may struggle to get me to leave!!

How many formal group shots should we have?

I would highly recommend limiting these to a maximum of 7 or 8 so these can be done as quickly as possible so you can get back to enjoying your day with your guests.  We’ll only have a limited time between your ceremony and you wedding breakfast and from experience all your guests will just want to get to the bar!

How far will you travel?

Literally as far as I need to!  My prices include travel costs within the UK however if the venue is more than 150 miles away I may ask for the cost of a cheap B&B the night before the wedding just so I’m not super tired photographing your day.  Please ask beforehand though as this may not always be necessary. For overseas wedding I do ask that travel and accommodation expenses are covered but I’ll always aim to keep these to a minimum.  Get in touch if you are planning a destination wedding so that we can discuss your requirements in more detail.

How many images will we receive from our wedding?

The minimum you will receive is 350 hand edited images and 500 if you chose my 2 photographer package.  This is always a minimum and I will absolutely never throw a good image away.  My clients often receive a lot, lot more! However quality over quantity is always key!

Do you offer printed albums?

Yes of course! Prices depend on size, number of pages etc so get in touch and I’ll go through the options with you.

How does my album design process work?

I can either design the album design and layout for you, or alternatively you can select the I’m images yourself and I will then design the album in a layout that tells the story of your day.  Before I send the album design to the printers I will always send you a proof of the album first.

Can we make prints directly from the hi-res images that you provide?

Yes, your images will be presented on a beautiful USB in a wooden keepsake box. The USB contains all of the hand edited images of your day.  The images are high resolution and are ready to be printed. They will also be provided to you on an online gallery so you can email the link to Mum, Uncle Bob and whoever you like and they can view and download the high resolution images

What happens to my wedding files?

I backup all of my work onto numerous external hard drives to ensure that no risks are taken with your special images. I only commit to keeping these for 2 years however often these are kept longer.

How soon after our wedding will my images be ready?

I put a great deal of time and effort into post production and all images are hand edited to my unique style.  Your images will be with you a maximum of 12 weeks after the wedding date during busy times but I always aim to have them with you a lot sooner.

How far in advance do I need to book?

It’s always best to secure your date early to avoid disappointment as some dates are more popular than others.  I take bookings up to 3 years in advance however it’s also not been unknown to take a last minute booking with only a few weeks to go!

How do we book you to photograph our wedding?

Head over to the contact page and pop me a message telling me a little about your wedding and of course the wedding date.  Once I have checked that I am available I will send you a contract for you to read and sign.  This along with a booking fee ensures that your date is fully secured.

Can we meet you before the wedding?

Of course!  If you’d like to meet up for a coffee within 15 miles of Macclesfield area to go over your final plans this is of course absolutely fine.  If you’d like to meet me before booking all I ask is that you come to the Macclesfield area or 40p per mile for petrol will be charged.  It’s always lovely to meet you before your wedding day!

Do we need to pay a booking fee to secure our booking?

Yes, for weddings I ask for a £300 booking fee to secure your date.  The outstanding amount is then due 8 weeks before the wedding date.

Is it a good idea to have a second shooter?

It’s never going to be a bad idea but the choice is entirely yours.  I try my hardest but unfortunately I can’t be in more than one place at any time so if you’re worried about things being missed or you’re having a larger wedding it might be something to consider.  There’s also the added bonus of having the option to have groom prep captured.  The second photographer will be able to capture different angles and things that I might miss throughout the day. With the Double whammy package you will also receive 150 more images (minimum).

Are you insured?

Of course.

Do you bring back up gear?

Will you provide raw images?

No sorry.  All of your images are edited with my signature style of editing the converted to jpeg images so you can view them anywhere you like.
